The new version of Death Stranding will release in a few short days, and owners of the original version can upgrade their copies for a significantly reduced price rather than buying the new version. However it seems that players that own a UK copy of the game can take advantage of an even greater discount, one that appears entirely unique to the region.

While US and UK counterparts of products are normally similarly priced, the US version of the PS5 upgrade will be priced at $10 while the UK version is half of that at £5, which essentially translates to just over $6. The news was confirmed by the PlayStation UK twitter account which also re-confirmed that the upgrade would be available Friday, September 24th, along with a message to the players to “keep on keeping on.”
There isn’t any official word on why the price difference exists at the time of this writing, which seems to fly in the face or conventional procedure for cross-regional releases. This means that players in the UK are very lucky, and advised to take advantage of this price difference to upgrade their copy to the definitive version of Death Stranding while they can. After all, there’s no guarantee that this price difference will last (especially due to the strangeness surrounding it).
The upgrade to the Death Stranding: Director’s Cut isn’t just a mere graphical upgrade, but also includes numerous new missions, cosmetics, and all manner of content that fans will undoubtedly tear into with zeal. There’s no telling what this new content may hold, and Kojima’s faithful are sure to come up with fittingly strange Death Stranding theories for all to enjoy and discuss.
While Kojima’s fans are probably waiting on the edge of their seats for news on his next project, even something as straightforward as a sequel to Death Stranding, hopefully this latest offering will whet their voracious appetites for the director’s signature strangeness. Even if Kojima elects to move onto another project entirely, fans can rest assured that whatever he works on next will be a headscratcher in the best possible way.
