This isn’t the first time players have taken the beautiful world of Death Stranding and transferred it into the low poly world of classic gameplay. One fan even brought the PS4 game all the way back to the system’s roots, showing Sam evade BTs in a Silent Hill style, PS1 rendering.

For the most recent demake, Fabricio Lima posted a “Low-Fi” version of Death Stranding to Twitter from their account @NotFabricio. The rendering shows exactly how much can be captured with such a minimalist style, expressing the beauty of Death Stranding with only a few pixels. In addition to simply creating the visual representation of the game in an old 8-bit style, @NotFabricio also recreated some of the music from the game as a chiptune to accompany the retro aesthetic.
While the short animation only shows a select few characters from Death Stranding, @NotFabricio has claimed that he intends to finish models for each character and extend what he has already made in the future. However, he did have time to recreate Higgs in the two weeks that it took him to create the art piece, and the man is just as terrifying in 8-bits as he is in HD. This then adds to the massive collection of artwork gathering around Death Stranding, coming both from fans, as well as from Kojima Productions directly.
It’s inspiring to see that the community around this game is still pumping out content almost a month after the game released. Some might have assumed that due to some of the polarizing reviews Death Stranding received on launch, there wouldn’t be so much engagement with the game. However, this doesn’t seem to be the case, as anyone who follows Hideo Kojima’s Twitter accounts would know that more and more fan art bringing Death Stranding into the real world and gameplay highlights are still being shared every day.
Death Stranding is available now for PS4, with a PC release planned for Summer 2020
