First, players will want to make sure they are in the right place. It was so popular earlier in the year that many people created Wordle copycats and clones. The original, however, was created by an indie dev and purchased by the New York Times Games. In order to play the original, players need to head to either the New York Times Games Wordle site or the New York Times Crossword app. While other versions can be fun, this article is all about the original version. Others will have different answers and may have different rules.

First, choose a good starting word. Starting words must be five letters long, a real English word, and cannot be a proper noun. While they can be used as guesses, Wordle answers will never been repeats and cannot be plural nouns ending in S or ES. Answers will also never any of the offensive words censored from Wordle by the New York Times, and these cannot be used as guesses. Good starting words also have a variety of common letters. Type the word into the site. Press enter. The letters will change colors: green are right, gray are wrong, and yellow letters are right but in the wrong place. Players have six total tries. Puzzles reset at midnight.
