How To Play Wordle
While Wordle went viral on Twitter and several other social media sites back in early 2022, not everyone has played this simple daily game. In order to get started, players will want to make sure they are in the right place. The original version of Wordle and the subject of this article is the New York Times Games version. It can be found on the NYT’s website or the NYT’s Crossword app only. Other kinds of Wordle, like the Pokemon-themed versions to the versions with bigger words, can have different rules and answers.

To play, players will first need to choose a good starting word. The best starting Wordle words are:
Five letters long. Real words that aren’t proper nouns. Not offensive words like the ones censored from Wordle by the New York Times. Not a previous answer. Filled with common letters. Not a plural noun ending in S or ES.
Choose a great word to start and type it into the Wordle grid. Press enter. This will cause the letters to change colors.
Letters that become green are correct and in the right place or places in the word. Yellow letters are correct but in the wrong position or positions in the word. If a letter turns gray, it is incorrect and won’t be in the word of the day.
Try new words and get new clues until the answer is guessed or players run out of their six total tries. Puzzles reset at midnight local time.
