How To Play Wordle
Wordle may be a simple game, but players still need to know the rules of how to play in order to join in. Thankfully, there are very few rules for them to learn. The first thing players will want to know is where to go to play. The original version of Wordle can be found on the New York Times Games website or the New York Times Crossword app. Other versions are not the original and may have different answers and different rules of play.

To get started, players should choose a good starting word. The best starting Wordle words are:
Five letters long. Not a proper noun. A real English word. Not a plural noun ending with S or ES. Not a previous answer. Wordle words can be themed around holidays now that it has an editor.
Type this starting word into the site and press enter. The boxes around the letters will change colors.
Green boxes around letters indicate that they are correct and in the right place in the word. Yellow boxes around letters mean they are correct but in the wrong place in the word. Gray boxes mean the letter is incorrect and won’t be in the final word of the day.
Given these clues, players can try a new word and get more clues from it. They can then keep trying new words until they have won or they run out of their six total tries. There is only one puzzle word per day, and they reset daily at midnight.
