Published by Coffee Stain Studios, Deep Rock Galactic has been one of the go-to shooters of co-op multiplayer fans ever since it first came out back in 2018. Deep Rock has carved out a very particular niche for itself due to its destructible environment, as well as its focus on good communication and cooperation between all players. Season 3 aims to continue this approach with more content available across the board.

Whereas Season 2 of Deep Rock Galactic pitted the dwarves against vicious driller robots, Season 3 is going in an entirely different direction, instead. The main foe appears to be an all-new lithophage by the name of Rockpox, which will infect the local flora and fauna, player characters themselves, and even the very ground upon which the dwarves walk. Season 3 will empower players to battle the Rockpox with a slew of new weapons and throwables, highlights of which are the electromagnetic boomerang and the gun-grenade, for example.
Players who might only just now be joining the game and who might be worried that some of Deep Rock Galactic Season 2 gear may be unavailable in the future needn’t worry, however. The new trailer specifically points out the fact that none of the content is leaving Deep Rock Galactic, and would instead be added to the game’s regular loot pool, and may appear randomly upon mission completions and the like.
It’s no secret that Deep Rock Galactic is very successful, having surpassed the milestone of 3 million copies sold back in late 2021. With Season 3 launching in early-to-mid November, this number is likely to keep growing still, and the fact that Coffee Stain and Ghost Ship studios are continuously working on it underlines the game’s explosive success. This is particularly noteworthy since it first came out as an Early Access game, which may have made some potential players skeptical of its longevity back in the day.
As deep and content-rich as Deep Rock might be, it’s also worth pointing out that the game isn’t difficult to pick up even for total newbies. There are, certainly, some key Deep Rock Galactic tips and tricks that newcomers ought to keep in mind, but the game’s difficulty curve lends itself rather well to almost all player profiles, no matter the amount of experience they might have.
Deep Rock Galactic is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
