Many games have brought updates, items and cosmetics as part of the Lunar New Year in 2022. Steam as usual had a large sale celebrating the event, and Deep Rock Galactic has given players customization options for their dwarves as part of the Lunar New Year. One of these customization options has players wearing a hat that they’ve found very similar to the hat worn by Mortal Kombat character Raiden.

Raiden, being the thunder god of the Mortal Kombat universe, caused some Deep Rock Galactic fans to imagine their dwarves as inheriting Raiden’s powers, leading to the creation of some hilarious images posted in the online community of the game. Deep Rock Galactic characters can be seen wielding lightning, and one fan even put extra effort into their meme, showing their dwarf as a selectable character in Mortal Kombat 11.
Mortal Kombat is a franchise that’s no stranger to crossovers. In each modern Mortal Kombat game, guest characters from other Warner Bros properties such as the Joker and Spawn have made appearances. It seems doubtful though that a dwarf from Deep Rock Galactic will be making the jump to the fighting game. However, with the selection of weapons available in Deep Rock Galactic, it’s possible that a dwarf from that game could wreak some major havoc in the Mortal Kombat universe.
While its incredibly unlikely Deep Rock Galactic will officially cross over with the Mortal Kombat universe, there are other games that fans could see being a great match with Deep Rock Galactic. Considering the game’s focus on mining and exploring caves, many quickly made the link between Deep Rock Galactic and Minecraft. Fans pointed out that the pickaxe from Deep Rock Galactic could make its way into Minecraft, or perhaps the weapons and tools from the latter could feature in the former.
While crossovers are interesting to speculate, Deep Rock Galactic is still a relatively new game, officially launching in 2020, and so it still has a few things to work out. The Space Rig hub area, for example has been outlined by Deep Rock Galactic players as something that could be improved in the game.
Deep Rock Galactic is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
